- Prepares, under the direction of the Judge or the City Prosecutor, court orders, supporting documents, and motions
- Examines legal documents submitted to courts for adherence to laws or court procedures
- Performs record checks on past or current licensees, as required by investigations
- Coordinates responses to citizen complaints with other departments to ensure efficient resolution of issues
- Performs administrative tasks, such as answering telephone calls, filing court documents, or maintaining office supplies or equipment
- Initiates appropriate actions of the Court following direction from the Judge
- Coordinates victim assistance and restitution
- Issues summons and warrants; and prepares and files appeals with Circuit Court
- Questions applicants to obtain required information, such as name, address, or age, and records data on prescribed forms
- Searches files and contacts witnesses, attorneys, or litigants to obtain information for the court
- Coordinates or maintains office tracking systems for correspondence or follow-up actions
- Verifies the authenticity of documents, such as foreign identification or immigration documents
- Prepares meeting agendas or packets of related information
- Prepares and issues orders of the court, such as probation orders, release documentation, sentencing information, or summonses
- Enters all traffic citations and misdemeanors; prepares and maintains misdemeanor files
- Prepares materials, correspondence, and legal documents for City Prosecutor
- Prepares dockets or calendars of cases to be called
- Participates in the administration of municipal elections, such as preparation or distribution of ballots, appointment or training of election officers, or tabulation or certification of results
- Instructs parties about timing of court appearances
- Answers questions or provides advice to the public regarding licensing policies, procedures, or regulations
- Complies with federal, state and City laws, rules, and regulations
- Issues public notification of all official activities or meetings
- Responds to requests for information from the public, other municipalities, state officials, or state and federal legislative offices

- Ensures elections are conducted fairly, efficiently, and legally by working closely with other government agencies such as the registrar of voters, county clerk’s office, sheriff’s department, etc
- Accepts payments of fines and processes daily deposit. Prepares contractual agreements for citizens needing an extension on their fine assessment
- Plans or directs the maintenance, filing, safekeeping, or computerization of all municipal documents
- Prepares documents recording the outcomes of court proceedings
- Coordinates jury and bench trails and follows up on all bench probations and diversions
- Records and edits the minutes of meetings and distributes to appropriate officials or staff members
- Gathers, prepares, and distributes discovery to attorneys
- Explains (without entering into the practice of law) alternatives open to defendants and provides them with information concerning their criminal cases, violations, and civil actions
