- Inserts metal tubing through rail supports
- Sets metal or wooden posts in upright positions in postholes
- Attaches rails or tension wire along bottoms of posts to form fencing frames
- Fits and secures gate/s in accordance with site drawings and specifications
- Selects, stores and safely handles materials and components for fencing installation
- Excavates post holes to specifications
- Blasts rock formations and rocky areas with dynamite to facilitate posthole digging
- Selects, prepares and uses hand-held tools, power tools and mechanical plant safely and effectively for the installation of fences
- Understands the foundation requirements for the type of fencing being installed
- Measures and lays out fence lines and mark posthole positions, following instructions, drawings, or specifications
- Mixes and pours concrete around bases of posts, or tamp soil into postholes to embed posts
- Installs signage at entry gates in accordance with security requirements
- Selects, fits and uses appropriate personal safety equipment
- Completes top fence rails of metal fences by connecting tube sections, using metal sleeves
- Stretches wire, wire mesh, or chain link fencing between posts, and attaches fencing to frames
- Determines locations of fences and gates from site plans and drawings
- Inspects all panels for damage, tags damaged panels and determines if the damages need to be charged back to the customer
- Dismantles fences and gates and removes from site where required
- Fixes fence rails, cladding and mesh to specifications
- Operates saws, drills, and sanders
- Welds metal parts together, using portable gas welding equipment
- Erects alternate panel, basket weave, and louvered fences
- Sets out fence line and post holes in accordance with site plans and drawings
- Completes documentation (e.g. site diaries and quality control forms) to comply with the requirements of quality control
- Clears waste and excess materials from site
- Cleans, maintains and stores tools and equipment
- Repairs or reinstates defective or faulty/damaged fences, posts, or components
- Inspects and completes safety checklist for all equipment, power tools, and machinery prior to each use
- Identifies and reduces hazards and risks, in line with current legislation and safe systems of work
- Establishes correct lines and levels for fences and gates
- Installs gates and doors into fencing
- Aligns and cuts material to meet specifications
- Sets up and operates fixed saw
- Removes rental fence panels from site and safely loads on the truck for transportation back to branch
- Installs rental fence panels on posts or stands per customer request and stabilizes with sandbags or weights as needed
- Assembles gates, and fastens gates into position, using hand tools
- Determines materials and quantities from site drawings and specifications
- Discusses fencing needs with customers, and estimates and quotes prices
- Aligns posts, by lines or sighting, and verifying vertical alignment of posts, using plumb bobs or spirit levels
