- Plans, develops, and implements ongoing skills training and preventive maintenance programs
- Oversees the grounds maintenance and landscaping activities
- Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques
- Interprets specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers
- Hires workers, trains and maintains records of employee performance and attendance on the job
- Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of employees
- Fosters continuous improvement methodologies that ensure improved productivity, efficiency, and eliminate waste
- Executes manufacturing operations strategy, using available control systems, tools and metrics to accurately measure progress
- Monitors indicators to ensure correct operations
- Interfaces with all functional departments as needed to discuss and resolve production problems

- Resolves quality and staffing issues and develops/implements corrective action plans
- Prepares drawings and specifications for proposed project; estimates materials, time, and labor costs for project; and requests funding
- Performs preventive maintenance and routine repairs
- Performs housekeeping to maintain production schedule
- Oversees the operation and maintenance of engines, boilers, and other mechanical equipment used to generate steam or electrical power
- Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained
- Ensures the production department meets the company's safety goals by developing and conducting training for workers
