Job details

Responsibilities include:

  • Studies equipment performance and reliability to evaluate how well the machine tool or system is achieving design intent with regard to CT achievement, part quality capability, cutting tool utilization, power consumption, etc.  Requires detailed data analysis, statistical process control, component redesign for efficiency improvements, new cutting tool development, etc.
  • Establishes programs and solutions for increasing uptime and for equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process.  This includes creating, troubleshooting, modifying, and ensuring the integrity of this programming for both daily production and new model implementation, whether it be CNC system programming (G-Code), PLC programming, vision system programming, or measurement tool programming controlled by the responsible line engineer for that area.
  • Provides technical support to the manufacturing equipment repair and process engineering organizations if the equipment repair group does not adequately understand machine function, system programming, interlocks, or sequencing the engineers provide that in-depth level of support and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Defines and writes preventative maintenance schedules
  • Maintains current records on equipment manufacturers’ technical notices, upgrades, and safety issues
  • Oversees the installation, modification, upgrade, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment
  • Evaluates, selects, and orders equipment that is most appropriate and cost effective for the manufacture of company products
