Maintains filing system for medical records
Promotes the effective management, analysis and communication of health information
Adheres to procurement regulations in terms of contract management and tendering guidelines
Recognizes and promotes patients and their family's/caregiver's perspectives in the delivery of care
Uses data sets to assess performance, establish targets, monitor indicators and trends, and determine if deliverables are met
Monitors to ensure legal, ethical, and quality/safety standards are met in clinical, corporate and administrative functions
Handles and resolves patient complaints
Includes the perspective of individuals, families and the community as partners in healthcare decision-making processes, respecting cultural differences and expectations
Responds to inquiries and requests for information relating to patient records
Manages departmental human resource processes, including scheduling; performance appraisals; incentives; staff recruitment; selection and retention; training and education; motivation, coaching and mentoring; and appropriate productivity measures
Directs or conduct recruitment, hiring, and training of personnel
Develops and implements quality assurance, satisfaction, and patient safety programs according to national initiatives on quality and patient safety
Responds to questions from personnel regarding billing functions, charges, insurance reimbursements, statements
Establishes goals and objectives for improving health outcomes that incorporate an understanding of the social determinants of health and of the socioeconomic environment in which the organization functions
Keeps and organizes accurate records of the facility's services, such as the number of inpatient beds, medical supplies, non-medical supplies, and other materials needed to ensure quality treatment
Summarizes selected information for patient studies as requested (such as tumor registry, communicable diseases, federal and state regulatory agencies)
Manages the system to stock or issue medical supplies, such as dressing packs or treatment tray
Demonstrates knowledge of governmental, regulatory, professional and accreditation agencies
Ensures strict confidentiality of financial and medical record
Manages the system to stock utility rooms, nonmedical storage rooms, or cleaning carts with supplies
Performs support duties, such as preparing materials, keeping records, maintaining supplies, and scheduling activities
Plans, implements, and administers programs and services in a health care or medical facility, including personnel administration, training, and coordination of medical, nursing and physical plant staff
Seeks information from a variety of sources to support organizational performance, conduct needs analysis and prioritize requirements
Adheres to state and federal guidelines on release of medical records
Optimizes the healthcare workforce around local critical workforce issues, such as shortages, scope of practice, skill mix, licensing and fluctuations in service
Uses vital statistics and core health indicators to guide decision making and analyze health trends of the population to guide the provision of health services
Coordinates reimbursements with billing office
Abides by laws and regulations applicable to the work of the organization
Utilizes Universal Precautions (OSHA standards)
Develops and monitors operating-unit strategic objectives that are aligned with the mission and strategic objectives
Manages the supply chain to achieve timelines and efficiency of inputs, materials, warehousing, and distribution so that supplies reach the end user in a cost-effective manner
Uses risk management principles and programs, such as risk assessment and analysis and risk mitigation
Manage insurance company relationships communicating and resolving insurance issues on behalf of patients and the facility
Balances the interrelationships among access, quality, safety, cost, resource allocation, accountability, care setting, community need and professional roles
Ensures that applicable privacy and security requirements are upheld
