- Manage Inventory to include identification, tagging, and location information
- Updates baseline as system configuration changes
- Recommends modifications to the network and computer systems configurations that reduce costs or improve service
- Proposes solutions that are practical, cost-effective and meet system specifications
- Uses knowledge of transmission records (e.g., Bluetooth, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Infrared Networking (IR), Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi). paging, cellular, satellite dishes, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)), and jamming techniques which enable transmission of undesirable information, or prevent installed systems from operating correctly
- Complies with organization systems administration standard operating procedures
- Recovers failed systems/servers. (e.g., recovery software, failover clusters, replication)
- Provides technical support to network service desk or customer operations if requested
- Performs data backups and disaster recovery operations
- Conducts disaster recovery test per disaster recovery plan
- Ensures that requirements are specific to database in documentation
- Maintain and administer computer devices/networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations
- Skill in using virtual machines. (e.g., Microsoft Hyper-V, VMWare vSphere, Citrix XenDesktop/Server, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, etc.)
- Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains server configurations to ensure their confidentiality, integrity, and availability as well as maintain servers utilizing operating systems such as Windows, Linux, or Solaris
- Assesses and reports problems
- Schedules and coordinates network maintenance
- Performs risk analysis
- Follows laws, regulations, policies, and ethics as they relate to cybersecurity and privacy
- Facilitates communications across DNS, DHCP, SMTP, SNMP, TCP/IP, and other common network protocols
