Uses spray-painting equipment, brushes, or rollers to undercoat and apply primers, sealers, etc. to surfaces
Monitors painting operations to identify flaws, such as blisters or streaks, and correct their causes
Uses color machine properly mix paints, stains, etc. to specifications/formulas
Receives and completes work orders while maintaining accurate records on material and labor used
Sands vehicle surfaces between coats of paint or primer to remove flaws and enhance adhesion for subsequent coats
Applies antiqued finishes to a properly prepared surface using methods such as rubbing with steel wool and spattering
Operates and maintains spray equipment (airless, conventional cup gun, & HVLP) on daily basis when being used
Applies water-born products according to manufacturer’s specifications
Allows the sprayed product to dry and touch up any missed spots
Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition
Demonstrates proper start-up, operation, cleaning techniques, shutdown, and safety guidelines for typical low-pressure washers using selected accessories
Applies coatings, such as paint, ink, or lacquer, to protect or decorate workpiece surfaces, using spray guns, pens, or brushes
Washes and cleans surfaces such as walls, ceilings and trim, etc., using sponges and cleaning compounds
Uses hand methods properly mix paints, stains, etc. to the appropriate color
Sprays prepared surfaces with specified amounts of primers and decorative or finish coatings
Applies rust-resistant undercoats and caulk and seal seams
Applies primer over any repairs made to surfaces
Operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures
Identifies, removes, repairs, or refinishes components that have become old, worn, damaged, torn or missing, in compliance with Federal/State/OSHA laws, rules & regulations
Paints surfaces, using brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers, and applies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects
Uses hand sanding equipment and paint removers to sand, scrape, and strip old finishes
Cleans and maintains tools and equipment, using solvents, brushes, and rags
Positions and glues decorative pieces in cutout sections of workpieces, following patterns
Applies a marbled finish to a properly prepared surface
Applies glaze coats to properly prepared surfaces using sponging, rag rolling, and cheese clothing
Patches cracks in plaster and drywall, finish drywall of limited size
Smooths and prepares surfaces for painting, including sanding and removing old paint
Sands and applies sealer to properly dried finish
Inspects jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean
Reads job orders and inspect workpieces to determine work procedures and materials required
Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc
Disposes of waste; paint, water, solvents etc. within acceptable environmental, regulatory and job specific guidelines
Melts or heats coating materials to specified temperatures
Cuts out sections in surfaces of materials to be inlaid with decorative pieces, using patterns and knives or scissors
Rinses, drains, or wipes coated workpieces to remove excess coating material or to facilitate setting of finish coats on workpieces
Places coated workpieces in ovens or dryers for specified times to dry or harden finishes
Selects and mixes ingredients to prepare coating substances according to specifications, using paddles or mechanical mixers
Examines finished surfaces of workpieces to verify conformance to specifications and retouch any defective areas
Mixes paints to match color specifications or products' original colors, stirring or thinning paints, using spatulas or power mixing equipment
Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster, or other filler
Cleans surfaces of workpieces in preparation for coating, using cleaning fluids, solvents, brushes, scrapers, steam, sandpaper, or cloth
Immerses workpieces into coating materials for specified times
Operates and cleans paint equipment, including scaffoldings, sanders, sprayers, compressors, brushes, rollers, etc
Conceals blemishes in workpieces, such as nicks and dents, using fillers such as putty
Stores, handles and disposes of paint, stain, varnish, and other chemicals according to established procedures
