Completes semesterly health and safety inspections for all assigned rooms
Counsels students, individually or in group settings, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, or making changes
Answers telephones, and routes calls or delivers messages
Enforces rules and regulations to ensure the smooth and orderly operation of dormitory programs
Chaperones group-sponsored trips and social functions
Supervises, trains, and evaluates residence hall staff, including resident assistants, participants in work-study programs, and other student workers
Maintains and upholds appropriate standards of confidentiality
Maintains students' information or service records
Counsels students to assist them in understanding, dealing with, or supporting relationships and friendships
Provides resources to residents and addresses issues that may negatively impact the community
Provides requested information on students' progress and the development of case plans
Supervises the activities of housekeeping personnel
Counsels students in the handling of issues such as family, financial, and educational problems
Assists in managing dormitories in private schools, colleges, group homes, and other live-in establishments
Confronts, documents, follows up with, and/or mediates any incidents that may affect the wellbeing of the community
Provides transportation or escort for expeditions, such as shopping trips or visits to doctors or dentists
Observes students to detect and report unusual behavior
Assigns rooms to students
Accompanies and supervises students during meals
Oversees departmental budget
Communicates with other staff to resolve problems with individual students
Connects residents to other campus offices
Manages budgets for personal services operations
Assists with the opening and closing of on-campus housing, the selection process of new team members, and the room change process
Develops and coordinates educational programs for residents
Takes inventory, packs, and removes items left behind by former residents
Provides emergency first aid and summons medical assistance when necessary
Develops program plans for individuals or assist in plan development
Directs and participates in on- and off-campus recreational activities for residents of institutions, boarding schools, fraternities or sororities, children's homes, or similar establishments
Promotes a safe and healthy environment using a team approach with Facilities, Campus Safety, student governance bodies, and other campus partners
Monitors environment to ensure safety
Provides crisis response and crisis management
Processes contract cancellations for students who are unable to follow residence hall policies and procedures
Compiles information such as students' daily activities and the quantities of supplies used to prepare required reports
