Job Description

A TASSCO 2nd Shift Lead Man Welder supervises and coordinates activities of 2nd Shift personnel with the objective of maximizing production of quality products while minimizing costs.

Required skills

Demonstrates fusion welding, braze welding and brazing processes and their applications
Uses the brazing machine to melt/cure the flux and then cleans off any excess material from cutting tool body
Differentiates between common ferrous, non-ferrous, reactive metals and their weldability
Identifies common welding symbols and bolted connections
Adjusts welding heads and tooling according to work specifications
Assists with the maintenance and repair of welding, brazing and soldering equipment
Uses Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Welder to make basic welds on flat stock
Joins metals using manual, semi-automatic and automatic arc welding equipment
Plans work from drawings and blueprints and uses hand tools and machines to fabricate, assemble and weld to make products
Uses soldering irons, crimping tools, and other special tooling as required
Lifts supplies and materials using proper body mechanics and assistive devices, such as hoists, lifts, forklifts and straps
Drives forklift truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, fork-grapple, clamps, elevating platform, or trailer hitch, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move materials in warehouse or factory
Read and interpret precision measuring instruments
Uses SMAW equipment
Applies the SMAW process
Wears personal protective equipment (PPE)
Observes all safety rules and wears appropriate PPE
Positions and aligns subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments and following blueprint lines and index points
Keeps the duty station, tools, workbenches, and manual equipment clean and safe for work
Keep work area clean and organized
Reads and interprets drawings in order to perform welding and brazing
Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
Reads and interprets schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, or reports to determine materials requirements or assembly instructions
Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of employees
Trains and evaluates assigned personnel; assists with training and orientation of new employees
Provides technical expertise and effective problem-solving techniques to resolve business and manufacturing issues
Performs ongoing quality assurance activities and quality control testing

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
